CYNOPHOBIA (Fear of Dogs): ( Syco-syphilitic ): An irrational fear of dogs; It is an abnormal and intense fear of dogs. An abnormal and persistent fear of dogs; Sufferers from cynophobia experience anxiety even though they realize that most dogs pose no threat.
Animal phobias are among the most common of the specific phobias and 36% of patients who seek treatment report being afraid of dogs or cats. Although snakes and spiders are more common animal phobias, Cynophobia is especially debilitating.
To avoid dogs, they may barricade yards or refuse to travel except in an enclosed vehicle.
